Hideaway
pretoria / fuzz core / guitar pop / fuzz pop / fuzz rock / jangle / jangle pop
Eat It While You Can is the debut ep of the Ichiro Li led Japanese foursome Hideaway who reveals themselves as another superb noise-pop act from a South East Asia area that is rapidly cornering the market in fey fuzz-pop.
The opening double salvo of "Cameron Diaz" and "Beyond" offers the most immediately accessible moments of the release incorporating jangled fuzz-pop that acts as a simmering underlay to the made-for-indie fey vocal delivery and isolated percussion that all combine to justify a comparison to their Japanese musical compatriots, Lucie Too, albeit with the volume turned down.
Beyond such a core sound the fuzz is married to dank, post-punk aural textures in "Hero" whereas "OR" is the complete antithesis of such an aesthetic with its faithful adaptations of the regions jangly guitar pop from the 1990's.
A truly accomplished debut EP from an act that promises great things
