Nicola Olla
APÓLEIA

Once again I’ve created a soundtrack for the World Press Photo Exhibition at MuA (Sinnai, CA, Italy), and like last year it feels like both a privilege and a heavy weight for the responsibility this task carries.

Everything and nothing has changed since the last album Ω.
The same old wars dressed as self defence, the same loop of tragedies where no one will ever want to take the blame, and the fragile will of a few who still have the guts to believe in change.

Sometimes I feel like we’re inside an empty bottle, falling in slowmotion and ready to shatter with it.

Releasing this long music improvisation feels almost like an exorcism, and I didn’t want to sugar-coat the pill.
You’ll hear missed notes, fractured arpeggios, off time beats. They belong there, in a world obsessed with the flawless I stand with the damaged, the broken ones, the cripples.

APÓLEIA stands as a quiet homage to some of the most poignant stories woven through this year's exhibition.
