Inverted Waves is Zone-440 at their most accessible by far. A world soaked in vibrant bursts of color and energy that's sure to put some shine into yours. The album contains many more clear ties to popular EDM and chiptune in general, but still holds the grandiosity and character Zone-440 has shown in their previous albums such as Mitosis.
If you have never heard anything from Zone-440 before, this album will be the perfect first step for you, being much more fitting for easy listening than previous Zone-440 albums, but having some of the most energetic and fun moments by far.

This album in particular is a MASSIVE step in quality for Zone-440 in my opinion. Much of this is due to the fact that the tools we use to make these music, in itself, had massive improvements. A few of these tracks were made in Ultrabox (back when it first came out basically), a mod of Beepbox/Jummbox known for the fact it directly supports use of audio files. (tl;dr [bit//storm] has a fucking amen break in it we're doomed 😭). However there are many other moments in this album unrelated to things like custom samples that just,,,, genuinely baffles me to this day???? Like, 9 zer0 does not feel like a Beepbox/Jummbox/Goldbox song for 90% of it despite it having no custom samples. Overall this is my favorite Zone-440 album by far, having way more tracks I am genuinely proud of and I can see holding up for years to come.

These songs were initially made during our Discord event, "Broken Ringerphone, Season 3". In this event, we made songs by playing an elaborate game of telephone, passing around the project file without talking directly to each other. Months after the event ended, we have finally finished polishing up all this material! This is our attempt to iron out all the kinks of the original versions, and turn them into something that is actually fun to listen to outside the context of the event.
It is also worth mentioning, for the GPJ lore historians, that GPJ3 is the first time we allowed people to pair up, technically allowing communication, though just... between one other person. Pairing up was originally just meant to be a GPJ3-exclusive, one time gimmick, so almost everybody paired up. (However, we actually ended up deciding to keep it as an option for future seasons.)
The result of this gimmick is that this album felt ESPECIALLY close to done after the event because of the amount of allowed communication. During the actual season, pairs would often pass the song back and forth between each other, resulting in way more edits per round. And yet, despite that, these new polished versions have been changed massively making some of the unpolished versions look bare in comparison!

I hope you enjoy as much as I do! We all worked our ass off this time. :P
P.S. If you are someone who helped with this album, genuinely thank you for putting up with my bullshit LOL. I know this polishing process in particular felt especially drawn out, but I really wanted to be confident about the material on this. I hope you agree with me that it was all worth it, and regardless I hope you enjoy it in its final* state.
[* in fairness, never trust an artist saying the word "final"]
